Update: Penelakut In-Field Wellness Clinic

It was a wonderful day at the Penelakut Animal Wellness Clinic with over 50 dogs and cats seen in the one day.  The community members who attended the clinic were happy to have their animals examined by one of our three volunteer vets and then received their vaccinations, de-worming, ear cleaning, mite treatment, parasite control and Rabies.

This was an amazing clinic with community members, Friends of the Furries and Big Heart Rescue all being in partnership with one goal in mind, the wellness of the animals and the community in general.

Our entire team also wish to send our thanks to Velma and Colleen for organizing the incredible lunch that everyone enjoyed so much!

Wuikinuxw (Oweekeno) 2011 Update

The Big Heart Rescue team returned from Wuikinuxw (Oweekeno) after seeing 42 dogs and cats in one day! This fantastic group of volunteers were able to vaccinate, de-flea, provide parasite control and share humane animal welfare information with this loving community who welcomed us so warmly.

A huge thank you to the volunteers of  Wuikinuxw who cooked delicious meals,  assisted with intake,  drove the team for home visits and  gave so much during this visit.

In addition, a special  thank you goes out to Sabrina and Logan who raised funds by holding bake sales, shoveling snow bound drive-ways and providing their own personal savings to help the animals.
