Volunteering

Karen

Big Heart Rescue’s volunteer Karen is the epitome of “leading by example”! Just a few of the words that are used to describe this outstanding volunteer with the hugest heart are dedicated, devoted, reliable, ethical and amazing.

When Karen approached BHR to provide her support for animals in need, we couldn’t have imagined what an integral part of our team she would become or how we ever managed without her!

Volunteers are the backbone of any non-profit organization and Karen has logged  countless hours and participated in every aspect of Big Heart Rescue.  She has logged in more time than any of us could even imagine.

Just a few of the activities that Karen takes great pride in are fostering, transport, vet visits, picking up/ dropping off supplies, knitting beautiful cat beds, attending garage sales, running information/educational booths, and fundraisers. In addition, Karen “failed” fostering 101 and adopted beautiful Maddie (formerly Brownie) who became fast friends with Cory, Karen’s other best furry friend. Maddie and Cory now live a happy life together and walks, love and cuddles are on the agenda everyday.

Karen has decided to take on a new learning curve and she is in training for home visits, providing potential adopters the opportunity to ask questions about the adoption process and to ensure that they are the right match for the dog they may be interested in.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Karen for all that you do for the animals.
